Solomon Stanley Financial Story

Helping Entrepreneurs Shape Their Future With Strategic Capital Solutions

Two hands interact over a document, one holding a pen and the other pointing at the text, in a professional setting.
Whether it’s a $1 million term loan or a $50 million equity placement, we bring the same energy, creativity, and dedication to every deal.

In a world where capital markets are constantly evolving, Solomon Stanley Financial was created to be something different: a firm where client success comes first.

In a complex and changing market, longtime colleagues Ruben Bohbot and Bryan Shaffer saw that the traditional model wasn’t enough. With strong capital relationships and in-house family office backing, they could offer more: more flexibility, more creativity, and more impact.

With access to both external and in-house family office capital today, Solomon Stanley offers clients access to a full range of debt and equity placements, alongside direct investments in select opportunities. Solomon Stanley moves with agility, solves complex problems, and creates opportunities where others see obstacles.

“Teaming up with Bryan to launch Solomon Stanley Financial feels like the natural next step for us. We’re in a challenging market right now, and starting our own shop with a hand-picked team allows us the freedom to focus on what matters most—delivering for our clients at every turn.” – Ruben Bohbot

Ruben brings over a decade of commercial real estate finance and advisory expertise to Solomon Stanley Financial, with more than $4 billion in equity and debt capital placed nationwide. He’s worked with a wide range of clients, securing financing for everything from land and special-use assets to construction projects and owner-user properties. Ruben has structured deals up and down the capital stack, always prioritizing his clients’ success. He prides himself on the strong, trusting relationships he’s built over the years and continues to focus on nurturing these partnerships while fostering new ones.

Ruben first teamed up with Bryan at George Smith Partners, where he served as a Director, originating loans and managing deal structuring, client relationships, and capital partners. Together, they moved to Slatt Capital to form Team Shaffer/Bohbot, sharpening their partnership before co-founding Solomon Stanley Financial. Earlier in his career, Ruben worked in acquisitions and dispositions at The Standard Oil Credit Holding in New York City, closing deals on over 1 million square feet of underperforming real estate notes before relocating to Los Angeles in 2018. That experience sharpened his ability to spot opportunities and navigate complex deals.

Outside of work, Ruben’s an active member of the Jewish community, deeply involved with AIPAC and the Jewish Federation. He’s happily married to his wife, Shani, with whom he shares two kids. In his downtime, Ruben enjoys training for his next triathlon or spending time with his family.

“Ruben and I started Solomon Stanley Financial to put our experience and capital connections to work for our clients. Our focus has always been on finding the right solutions—and that’s why so many of our clients keep coming back or sending their friends our way.” – Bryan Shaffer

Bryan brings 35 years of capital market and commercial real estate finance experience to Solomon Stanley Financial, having structured over $7.5 billion in debt and equity placements for deals ranging from $1 million to $150 million. His clients—private entrepreneurs and institutional players alike—span multifamily, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, healthcare, and senior housing sectors. Drawing on his past as a property owner, operator, and developer, plus his time as a direct lender, Bryan crafts financing options that fit like a glove.

With a career total of $9.5 billion in real estate transactions, Bryan has also managed the repositioning and sale of $2 billion in properties for Mitsui Real Estate Sales/Mitsui Fudosan, a Japanese institutional investor. As Chairman of Solomon Stanley Financial, he oversees our family office’s in-house capital and structures client deals while serving on the investment committee for DR Capital, a private debt and equity provider. Bryan’s career kicked off working as a contractor for the U.S. Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), and he’s since served as a California Superior Court Receiver and expert witness. Before co-founding this firm with Ruben, Bryan spent nearly 15 years as Managing Partner and owner at George Smith Partners, later moving with Ruben to Slatt Capital to form Team Shaffer/Bohbot. Over the years, he’s closed deals with Banks, Insurance Companies, Family Offices, Private Equity Firms, Bond Funds, CTL Lenders, Funds, Community Development Lenders, and Institutional Investors, and ran his own global investment advisory company. He also serves on the direct investment committee for Clearinghouse CDFI and has advised two family offices.

Beyond work, Bryan’s a longtime member of the Jewish Federation’s real estate board and active in groups like ICSC, ULI, NMHC, and the Mortgage Bankers Association. He’s often tapped to speak at industry events on lending trends and affordable housing, and he’s guest-lectured at USC on real estate and CMBS lending.
